LIGHT CAMERA ACTION

 By Andy 13/3/2008

Laos is well known for its relaxing atmosphere, unspoilt nature, refreshing and its friendly people.  Watching movie is for leisure especially if movie is made in Laos.  It will probably best describe as relaxing as it can be.  “Sabaidee Luang Prabang” is a new movie shoot entirely in the land of million elephants.  It sets to release around Lao New Year, famously known as Pimay Lao.  That will be in April.

Sabaidee Laung Prabang is the first ever movie funded by private companies from Thailand and Laos.  Sparta is a Thai company and Lao Art Media is one of major record companies in Laos.  The leading roles play by famous movie star Thai born Lao-Australian actor, Ananda Everingham and a Lao well-known beauty queen runner-up Khamlek Phalavong.

A love story about a young photojournalist from Australia who bases in Bangkok assigns to do field work in his fatherland.  Sone plays by Ananda takes this as an opportunity to rediscover his own root, the land where his father is from.  Story begins when he hires Noy plays by Khamlek as a tour guide.  Clumsy as she is they travel across Laos.  On the road as Ananda falls in love with his fatherland, his feeling for Noy also grows.

The cinematography in this movie would capture perfect breathing sceneries through out the land of million elephants as they travel from north to south.  This movie will surely give you new perspectives of Laos.  It co-directs and eye on international audience.  Since there are limited number of films coming out of Laos so see it for yourselves if Thai & Lao have done tremulously wonderful job in this film, definitely a must see!

BIG SCREEN MOVIE STAR, ANANDA

Lao-Australian actor, Ananda Everingham was "discovered" by the famous scout Mingkwan Saengsuwan, the former chief of the Mass Communications Organisation of Thailand at 14.  Now he is twenty-five and lives Bangkok.  His career as movie star in Thailand is on the rise hence he has become very popular movie star in his adopted country, Thailand.

Born to an Australian journalist father and a well-known Laotian collector of antique textiles mother.   His first featured film was the pop-idol teen flick Ananda Kab Fah Sai.

Already appeared in six movies this year, the latest released movie from this hunky movie star is Khor Hai Rak Jong Jaroen (Me, Myself), a romantic comedy in which Ananda plays a man who wakes up from amnesia and falls for a young woman without remembering his true identity as a gay cabaret singer.

Ploy direct by Pen-ek Ratanaruang is another project, he’ll play a leading man and will co-star along side film's leading stars Lalita Panyopas and newcomer Apinya Sakulcharoensuk.

Ananda has two movies shot in Singapore, an English-speaking Singaporean love story in which he stars opposite a Singaporean actress.

Pleasure Factory is another up coming project, a tale of lovelorn souls in the Lion City's red-light district directed by Ekachai Uakrongtham (who did Beautiful Boxer). Both films are expected to get a release in Thailand in the second half of the year.

Ananda's biggest blockbuster of the year is the 140-million-baht Queen of Lankasuka, it has been in production for over a year.
