The new year has already been off to a full and joyful start in 2025. It began with a heartwarming reunion of old friends at the Wests Magpies League Club in Campbelltown. It had been a long time since we last got together, and it was wonderful to see everyone looking so great and catching up on life’s updates.

Shortly after, we celebrated Pimay Lao , or Lao New Year — the most significant and cherished festival of the year. The event drew a large crowd of Lao Australians from across New South Wales, and even many who traveled from other states made their way to Sydney to take part in the festivities. Students from Laos who are studying in Sydney also joined in to receive blessings and reconnect with their cultural roots.

Adding to this series of meaningful moments, I was invited to attend the wedding of my friend’s daughter — a joyous occasion that marked the first family wedding I’ve attended in almost a decade. It was another perfect opportunity to reunite with old friends and create beautiful memories together.

All in all, 2025 is shaping up to be a year filled with connection, celebration, and gratitude.
