LAOS 2004

Laos joined The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on 23rd July 1997.   She will host their 10th ASEAN summit in Nakorn Luang Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.  The increasingly commercial elite ASEAN will get together to talk about issues that are important to them.  There should be more of these big important events held in Laos since Laos has its relaxed atmosphere and environment for important issues to decide upon.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok by the five original Member Countries, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.  Brunei Darussalam joined on 8 January 1984, Vietnam on 28 July 1995, Laos and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999.

The first Meeting of the 38th ASEAN Standing Committee in Laos will include member countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
