Song From The Heart is a song by Ongkane Sombounkhun.  He is from Lao Art Media.  It is from "1 Nydoungchai" album meaning "One and Only".  It released a few years ago.  This song is written by Vixay Kyvongxay.  Feel free to shake off stress or show off your cha cha cha.

 LAOS POP CULTURE EXPOSED

Recently Matt Lauer from American number one top rating Today morning show broadcasted live from Vientiane, capital city of Laos - the land of million elephants.  It was new initiatives from NBC under "Where in the World is Matt Lauer?" . He conducted his show live from various cities.  So far here are some great cities where he broadcasted from.  They are Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Vientiane, Istanbul, and Seychelles.  He stood in front Phra That Laung Stupa and announced to America  he was in Vientiane, Laos "live".  

From Laos he showcased Lao colourful silks, unique cultures, peaceful religion, authentic foods, unspoilt and exotic country village lifestyle including beautiful Vientiane the capital city, classical folklore music of Laos, pop culture in ever explosive environment since his government decided to bomb Laos a few decades ago.  He chatted with famous artists who will soon release their upcoming productions such as movie star Ananda and singer Aluna to obtain inside information how in just less than a decade Lao pop culture has managed to explode and has gone beyond its frontier.  More info >>>>>

LOVE INSTINCT FEELING

Here is the latest from brilliant young talented singer/song writer home grown pop princess - Aluna.  Just recently appeared on NBC Today Show with Matt Lauer explaining her love of making music.  This is a preview of her second album called "Aluna Part II " .  This song is called "Komhuseukbok" meaning "Love Instinct Feeling".  Some of her songs are mostly mixed in both Lao and English.  Introducing the Boyz from the south side of the hood.  They are the Showdown Boyz.  These duo have been spitting the venom since the late 1990's.  Recently they have been introduced to the Lao community.  They performed for huge crowd at Lao temple for Lao New Year as part of the celebrations.  They are here to make their presence felt and they've vowed that they will make more Lao dance to their beats.  More info>>>

Alexandra Thidavanh Bounxouay, Lao pop singer currently stars in Thai popular television series called Rae Ray Luck Sao Pha.  She is doing a course at Japanese university obtaining her higher education.  Below is a song from the television series of the same title.

Pakse is capital city of Champasak province in the southern part of Laos.  That is where I am from.  What does Pakse mean? Pak in Lao mean mouth.  Pakse is a city situates between two major rivers.  It's a mouth's river that runs into Mekong River.

Here is the latest video of how Laotians in Australia keeping our custom & tradition alive.  There are food, drinks, beautiful girls, handsome men, live entertainment, etc... You are invited to Lao ultimate party known as Pimay Laos – Lao New Year.  This three days event fall on the 13th, 14th and 15th of April of every calendar year.  As April is hot in Laos so it is refreshing to be doused with water that we also consider as cleansing or purifying element. We use water or performed water to cleanse Buddha images, after they offer alms to the monks and sprinkle of each other during our New Year festival. HUMMINGBIRD 

The world is full of possibilities.  Here is the latest from our sweet Bird.  Blood in the Water Records proudly present Birdie's new CD "Lovebird".  It will be available from mid May.  Will this album be the most impressive which has English and Lao songs?  Twelve are in English and two are in Lao to be exact.  

Birdie will introduce these Lao songs to her international audiences.  Would she be the one who will be responsible for the contagious of Lao music to the world?  There are several international artists from around the globe with Lao origin. They have set the bar so high and have impressive curriculum vitas therefore this has in some ways evidently shown in the explosive of Lao music.  Young Laotians are more confident of their artistic abilities.  This hopefully will keep on inspire generations.  More info >>>>

Come & listen to Lao classic songs from the past.  Country music may falter behind popular music lately but there are still more country artists than pop/rock artists combined.  Only recently that pop/rock overtook country music in Laos as the main stream.  

Pop and rock also explode across borders to neighbouring countries.  Evidently, there are tons of rewards for those who have become famous.  Now we see many Lao youngsters arm themselves with pens, papers, guitars, microphones, keyboards and drum machines.  Even senior politicians now ponder of switching career by quitting politics to form rock band.  More info >>>

LAO MODEL  

Here is another highflying Lao model who makes himself a permanent fixture in Thai media.  He grew up in Sydney, Australia.   Currently, he is earning his craft in Thailand.  He has appeared in both print media and television.   His favourite food is Tum makhung, known famously around the world as green paw paw salad.  Laotians introduce the art of eating green paw paw to the world and evidently green paw paw has its own aisle in supermarket everywhere you go globally.  Vientiane, Laos is only an hour flight away from the fast pace Bangkok where he lives and works.  Monthly escape to Vientiane is way to go for recuperation.   He likes woman who speaks with high authority and intellectually sound, a woman who has good loving heart and cares for the well being of others.  Does that sound like you girl?  Find out who he is here.

LIGHT CAMERA ACTION

 Laos is well known for its relaxing atmosphere, unspoilt nature, refreshing and its friendly people.  Watching movie is for leisure. “Sabaidee Luang Prabang” is a new movie shoot entirely in the land of million elephants.  It is a love story about a young Lao-Australian photojournalist who bases in Bangkok assigns to do field work in his fatherland.  Story begins when Sone plays by Ananda hires Noy plays by Khamlek as a tour guide.  Clumsy as she is they travel across Laos.  On the road as Sone falls in love with his fatherland, his feeling for Noy also grows. 

The cinematography in this movie would capture perfect breathing sceneries through out the land of million elephants as they travel from north to south.  This movie will surely give you new perspectives of Laos.  It co-directs and eye on international audience.  Since there are limited films coming out of Laos so see it for yourselves if Thai & Lao have done tremulously wonderful job in this film, definitely a must see!  More info>>>
